Nigerian actress Yvonne Jegede has made a bold transformation, shaving her natural hair for a movie role. After ten years of growing her hair, Jegede revealed on Instagram that this decision was essential to fully embrace her character in the film AJA.
In her heartfelt post, Jegede explained her belief in pushing boundaries for her craft, expressing her dedication to portraying characters authentically—even if it means stepping far outside her comfort zone. Besides altering her appearance, she’s also working on improving her Yoruba for the role.
Produced by Titi Orire, AJA is currently being filmed in Badagry, Nigeria, and features a stellar cast, including Rotimi Fakunle, Bianca Ugowanne, and Gbohunmi David, with a special cameo from a Nollywood icon. Jegede shared her excitement, noting that the film’s powerful story demands deep emotional and physical transformation.
