Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has stirred controversy by revealing that he recorded all of his hit songs while sitting down. In a viral video, the ‘Essence’ star boasted about his effortless approach to creating music, saying, "I don't stress myself to make hits."
Wizkid listed his biggest songs, from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’, ‘Joro’, and ‘Ojuelegba’, all of which he claims were recorded without ever standing up. "You [P2J] know how my things be for Lagos. You’ve been in my house. You know what I do. I’m chilling. You get me, no stress," he said to his producer, P2J.
He further expressed his disdain for traditional music promotion and media interviews: "You see promo, I hate doing that sh*t. You know press, I hate doing all that sh*t, bro. I know exactly what the people want. P2J is the only n*gga that understands me. All we have to do is turn on the mic. The amazing thing is that the world is now globalised; you don’t need anyone to lie to you."
Wizkid's remarks have sparked discussions online about his unconventional approach to music-making and promotion.
