Wizkid and Reekado Banks have put the past behind them, reconnecting over food and drinks in Lagos.
The long-time industry allies, whose relationship turned sour in 2020, were spotted together at a high-end restaurant alongside rapper Shallipopi. The linkup followed Wizkid’s visit to Reekado’s newly launched Above Lifestyle lounge in Lagos, where they shared drinks and conversations, signaling a fresh start.
For years, their fallout played out in public. At the height of the #EndSARS protests, Reekado attempted to drop their collaboration, only for Wizkid to slam him online, calling him a "clout animal." The track, which never officially saw the light of day with Wizkid’s verse, became a casualty of their rift.
Now, fans are buzzing with hopes of a long-overdue reunion track, wondering if this reconciliation will bring that lost record back to life.
Wizkid, fresh off the release of his sixth album Morayo, has been stationed in Nigeria since December, shutting down multiple shows. The Grammy-winning superstar, whose Superstar debut changed the game in 2011, continues to be a dominant force in Afrobeats.
Whether this linkup leads to music or is just two former friends making peace, the industry is watching.
