Nigerian social media commentator Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), recently shared a WhatsApp conversation with Super Eagles player Victor Boniface, revealing a generous gift of ₦5 million to aid VDM’s online activities.
In a video released on January 15, VDM explained that Boniface initially reached out via Instagram, leading to a deeper conversation on WhatsApp. VDM was pleasantly surprised to learn that Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, hails from Benin, Edo State, contrary to his previous assumptions about the athlete’s origins.
During their discussion, Boniface offered to send VDM a ₦5 million ‘recharge card’ to support his social media endeavors. VDM provided his account details and later confirmed receiving an amount exceeding the initial promise, though he chose not to disclose the exact figure.
Demonstrating generosity, VDM allocated ₦2 million from Boniface’s gift to assist several fans in pursuing vocational training. He shared the news with his followers, expressing surprise at Boniface’s Edo heritage and advising fans to follow instructions without sending direct messages.
The gesture has sparked various reactions online, with some individuals expressing admiration for the generosity, while others humorously lamented their own financial situations.
This act of kindness highlights the supportive relationships forming between Nigerian public figures and their audiences, fostering a sense of community and shared progress.
