Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former Manchester United striker, is the top choice to become Leicester City's new manager after the club sacked Steve Cooper.
Van Nistelrooy, 48, recently served as Manchester United's interim manager, winning three out of four matches before Ruben Amorim replaced him. Despite wanting to stay under Amorim’s coaching setup, he was not retained.
Leicester dismissed Cooper after the team earned just 10 points from 12 Premier League games. Cooper's assistants were also let go, leaving Ben Dawson in charge temporarily.
Reports suggest that Van Nistelrooy has held talks with Leicester officials and is expected to take over before the team faces Brentford this weekend. If appointed, it will be his second role as a senior manager, following his 11 months in charge at PSV Eindhoven.
Other candidates, such as Graham Potter and David Moyes, have been ruled out. Van Nistelrooy is seen as a strong choice to help Leicester improve their performance this season.
