The United States is the only country bidding to host the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup, while the United Kingdom is set to stage the 2035 edition, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Thursday.

Speaking at the UEFA Congress in Belgrade, Infantino revealed that the U.S. bid may also include other CONCACAF nations. Meanwhile, the UK’s home nations—England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—have expressed interest in hosting the 2035 tournament.

FIFA is also considering expanding the Women’s World Cup from 32 to 48 teams by 2031, following the format used in the men’s tournament.

Last month, FIFA limited the bidding for the 2035 Women’s World Cup to Europe and Africa. The final decision on the hosts will be made in 2026.

The U.S., which will co-host the 2026 Men’s World Cup with Mexico and Canada, confirmed its bid for the 2031 Women’s World Cup earlier in March. While South Africa and Morocco had initially shown interest, Infantino’s announcement suggests that they are no longer in contention.

The next Women’s World Cup is scheduled for 2027 in Brazil.
