Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh has spoken out against the body shaming of women on social media, calling for empathy and understanding, particularly for mothers whose bodies have naturally changed after childbirth.

In a recent Instagram post, Dikeh criticized the hypocrisy of individuals who ridicule women’s physical appearances. She urged critics to practice self-reflection and consider the sacrifices and transformations women endure throughout their lives.

“This statement highlights the hypocrisy of men/women who body-shame women, especially those whose physical changes result from natural processes like childbirth. It calls for self-reflection and empathy, reminding them to consider the sacrifices and transformations women, including their mothers, often go through in life. Body shaming in 2024???? That’s quite unsophisticated,” she wrote.

The actress described the persistence of body shaming as outdated and emphasized the need for greater respect for women’s experiences.
