Gospel artiste Laolu Gbenjo recently shared his views on the importance of musical diversity, expressing that the world would lack excitement if everyone only sang gospel music.
During an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Gbenjo emphasized the need for variety in music, pointing out that different occasions require different types of songs—like love songs for weddings and joyful praise for celebrations.
"We have to be honest with ourselves—if everyone sang gospel, the world would be boring," Gbenjo remarked. "At a wedding, for instance, you wouldn’t expect gospel music to be the only choice. There’s a place for love songs and celebration praise. It’s all about celebrating life."
Gbenjo also reflected on how the COVID-19 lockdown inspired him to carve out a new niche with his "Alujo Special" series. During the lockdown, he began creating personalized songs for individuals who sent in their photos, recording the tracks in his studio.
Discussing his musical journey, Gbenjo credited his father, a pastor, as a significant influence on his career. "I started singing because my father was a pastor," he explained, noting that his upbringing played a pivotal role in shaping his passion for gospel music.
