Popular Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Mandojo has tragically died after being mistakenly identified as a thief. The singer was beaten to death on Sunday, August 11, 2024, just days before his birthday.
The news of his death was confirmed by fellow musician Soggy Doggy, who expressed his grief on social media. "My heart is in great pain, I will miss you very much, my brother and friend," he wrote. "Rest in peace, Mandojo. Surely, human life is very short on this earth. My deepest condolences to his family, relatives, and friends. God's work has no mistakes."
Another artist, Domo Kaya, also paid tribute to Mandojo, lamenting the loss of his friend just before what would have been his birthday on the 22nd of August. "Daaaah MY SON, I don’t believe it. The 22nd of this month was supposed to be your birthday. Aisee, why! This is so sad. Rest in peace. May God give you eternal light, friend, brother."
Mandojo was well-known for his hit songs like "Nikupe" and "Dingi." His untimely death has shocked the Tanzanian music community and his fans, who are mourning the loss of a talented artist.
