Popular gospel artist Sinach has been sued by music producer Michael Oluwole, known as Maye, over alleged copyright infringement involving her 2016 hit song, Way Maker.

Maye filed a N5 billion lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Lagos, claiming to be a co-author and co-owner of the song. In the suit, marked FHC/L/CS/402/2024, he is also seeking damages for what he describes as repeated copyright violations.

Sinach has denied the allegations, asserting that she is the sole author of Way Maker. She also pointed out that she had achieved global recognition before the song's release.

The trial commenced on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, but was adjourned to January 29 and 30, 2025.
