Nigerian American singer and actor Rotimi Akinosho recently disclosed that his former label head, 50 Cent, made a staggering $300,000 from an Afrobeat track. Rotimi, who was previously signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records, shared that he had to pay back this amount due to a debt he owed the rapper.
Following the release of his song, 50 Cent suggested using a feud to promote Rotimi’s new track. In an interview, 50 Cent referenced Rotimi’s debt and his departure from the label, which inadvertently boosted the song’s visibility. Despite Rotimi’s initial fears from the controversy, his track topped the charts and received widespread airplay.
Rotimi noted that the entire situation led 50 Cent to profit from the drama, earning $300,000 in the process.
