Cristiano Ronaldo could still make a return to Manchester United, according to former United striker Teddy Sheringham. Sheringham believes that Ronaldo, despite his controversial exit, might find a welcoming environment at Old Trafford if Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim, rumored to take over the club, is appointed.

“Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim," Sheringham told FlashScore. However, he added, "I think Ronaldo will follow in the path of David Beckham, doing higher-profile things worldwide rather than coaching."

Ronaldo left United in 2021 after a highly publicized interview with Piers Morgan led to his move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, where he’s now one of the league’s top stars. Though Sheringham sees a return as possible, he doesn’t expect Ronaldo to take up a coaching role at United.

“I’m sure he’d be very, very welcome in any capacity coming back to the club, but I doubt that he’ll be a coach,” Sheringham said.

Ronaldo himself has shown little interest in coaching, admitting on his YouTube channel, UR, that he lacks a passion for leading the current generation of players. “For me, it will be difficult one day to be a coach because I don’t have a passion for this generation. They think the phones will give you a good education—TikTok, Instagram,” Ronaldo explained.

Instead, Ronaldo is eager to focus on business after retiring. “I have other things to worry about, another chapter of my life that is business-focused, and I’m excited about it,” he said.
