Nigerian social media personality, Bobrisky, and VeryDarkMan have been summoned by the House of Representatives alongside the EFCC Chairman and Nigerian Correctional Service Comptroller General.
This development comes after allegations of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission and the Nigeria Correctional Services.
The controversy started in April when Bobrisky was arrested by the EFCC on six counts of money laundering and Naira mutilation. Although the money laundering charges were dismissed, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for Naira abuse.
Recently, VeryDarkMan released a leaked audio recording where Bobrisky allegedly discussed how EFCC officials extorted N15 million from him to drop the money laundering charges.
VeryDarkMan claimed he released the audio because Bobrisky refused to repay N4 million borrowed from one of the people he approached to raise the N15 million.
In response, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered an immediate investigation into the bribery allegations and invited Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to report to the EFCC's Lagos office. Additionally, the Minister of Interior has launched a separate investigation into Bobrisky's claim that he bribed prison officials to avoid being jailed during his sentence.
