Real Madrid is reportedly making progress in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old right-back, who has spent his entire career at Liverpool, has been linked to the Spanish club for months. Since January, he has been free to negotiate with foreign clubs, and talks with Real Madrid are said to be advancing.
Alexander-Arnold made his debut for Liverpool at 18 in 2016 and has since won major trophies, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup. Liverpool is currently 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League and could secure another title under new manager Arne Slot.
His contract situation is part of a bigger concern for Liverpool, as key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also nearing the end of their deals.
Alexander-Arnold is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and was absent when Liverpool lost to Newcastle in the League Cup final earlier this month.
Liverpool has not commented on the transfer speculation.
