The Premier League has announced that the 2025 summer transfer window will be split into two phases due to special circumstances linked to the FIFA Club World Cup.

The first window will open earlier than usual, running from June 1 to June 10. It will then pause before reopening on June 16, with the final deadline set for September 1.

This change follows FIFA’s decision last October to introduce an interim transfer window for clubs competing in the Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on June 14.

The move allows teams like Chelsea and Manchester City to strengthen their squads and finalize contracts ahead of the tournament. However, several Premier League clubs had initially opposed the idea of a transfer freeze during this period, arguing it would put them at a disadvantage.

To address these concerns, the Premier League agreed to open an early window. In an official statement, the league said:

"The window will open early, between Sunday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 10, due to an exceptional registration period related to the FIFA Club World Cup. It will then reopen on Monday, June 16, and close on Monday, September 1."

Last summer, the transfer window ran from June 14 to August 30, but this new arrangement aims to balance domestic and international commitments.
