Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has voiced his disapproval of the trending phrase "I am a Chosen," which is commonly used by members of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

Reacting to the viral testimonies associated with the church, Doyle took to Facebook to label the phrase as "nonsensical" and lacking any connection to true Christian doctrine. He argued that the chant does not reflect the Christian faith and is instead focused on a human figure, specifically the church’s General Overseer.

"The phrase doesn't mention Jesus Christ, and to associate it with glorifying His name is a distortion of our faith," Doyle stated. He added that content creators who use the phrase are not mocking Christianity, but rather the sect and its leader.

His comments come after actor IK Ogbonna called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to address the issue of fake miracles in churches. Other celebrities, including actress Kemi Lala Akindoju, have also criticized the doctrine of The Lord's Chosen church.

CAN has since condemned a viral testimony in which a congregant claimed an angel provided her with exam answers, sparking further debate on the controversial practices of the church.
