Paris 2024: Tobi Amusan to lead Nigeria at Olympics opening ceremony

Nigerian runner, Tobi Amusan has been chosen to carry the nation's flag at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony. 

This makes her the first track and field athlete in 20 years to receive this honour, following in the footsteps of Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games.

Amusan, a standout performer in the 100m hurdles, will lead the Nigerian team during the parade of nations. The Nigerian Olympic Committee also announced badminton player Anuoluwapo Opeyori as the General Team captain for Nigeria at the Paris Games.

This selection marks a historic moment for Nigerian athletics, recognizing Amusan's exceptional achievements and dedication to her sport. She will proudly represent Nigeria at the opening ceremony, showcasing the country's talent and spirit on the global stage.
