Nigerian Afrobeat star Oxlade has stirred conversation by stating that he feels more appreciated in Ghana than in his own country. In a recent interview, he discussed his collaboration with Ghanaian hip-hop legend Sarkodie on his debut album, “Oxlade from Africa.”
Oxlade elaborated on his previous posts on X, where he mentioned facing boycotts and blackmail from some industry veterans. He expressed his frustration with individuals who act as gatekeepers in the Nigerian music scene, asserting, “If I’m being honest with you, Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria.”
He further criticized the mentality of those who try to control artists’ paths, stating, “I hate the mindset of people trying to play god. Sometimes they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well.” Oxlade’s comments reflect his growing relationship with the Ghanaian music scene and his dissatisfaction with certain dynamics within Nigeria.
