Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has identified his Super Eagles teammates, Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze, as potential future recipients of the CAF Player of the Year award. Osimhen made these remarks while commending Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman for his outstanding performances at both club and international levels.

During a team dinner ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, the Super Eagles celebrated Lookman’s achievement of winning the 2024 CAF African Player of the Year award. Osimhen expressed his pride, stating, “First of all, we all know Lookman deserves this. He has been amazing for both his club and also for the Super Eagles.”

Osimhen, who secured the same accolade in 2023, emphasized the importance of the award remaining in Nigeria, adding, “I also hope it comes back to Nigeria. The likes of [Victor] Boniface, Samuel [Chukwueze], all of us.”

This endorsement highlights the depth of talent within the Nigerian national team and underscores Osimhen’s confidence in his teammates’ abilities to achieve continental recognition in the near future.
