Prominent Nigerian businessman and socialite, Obinna Oyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, has revealed that no member of his family has lived beyond the age of 80.

In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwu, Obi Cubana shared that his late mother attempted to break this generational curse but passed away at 79. He explained that his family chose to hold an extravagant funeral for her, acknowledging her near-success in overcoming the curse.

Obi Cubana noted, “In my family, no one has lived past 80 years, and I am sharing this for the first time. My father died at 66, my grandmother at 75, my grandfather at 78, and the pattern continued with my mother.

“All my siblings are married and successful, and we had hoped that my mother might break the jinx. We planned a grand celebration for her, one that no one had ever seen before. We even started saving for it. She passed away on December 31 at 79, after having celebrated her 78th birthday.

“So, we felt that she tried her best at 79, and we came together to honor her, celebrating her life and her near-success in breaking the curse.”
