Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of Nigerian singer Tems, has sparked a heated debate on social media with his assertion that the Nigerian government has no plans for its citizens.

In a recent post on his X handle, Awoniyi wrote, "Nigeria has no plans for you," which has elicited mixed reactions from the public

On one hand, many Nigerians agree with Awoniyi's sentiment, citing the country's numerous challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure. They argue that the government has failed to provide basic necessities, leaving citizens to fend for themselves. For instance, popular singer Rema recently lamented that many Nigerians have lost faith in the country due to its numerous challenges

Also, some Nigerians have countered Awoniyi's statement, arguing that citizens should not expect everything from the government. They emphasize the importance of individual contributions to nation-building, rather than relying solely on the government. Rema, despite his criticism of the government, has urged youths not to lose faith in the country, stressing that nation-building is a collective responsibility

It is worth noting that Awoniyi's statement may have been inspired by his experiences managing Tems' music career. As a key player in the Nigerian music industry, Awoniyi has likely witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by artists and citizens alike. Tems, who has gained international recognition for her unique sound, has been an inspiration to many young Nigerians
