Tennis star, Naomi Osaka has announced her breakup with rapper Cordae after more than five years of dating.
Osaka shared the news on her Instagram Story on Monday, saying there is “no bad blood” between them.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” she wrote. “He’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
The couple shares an 18-month-old daughter named Shai. Billboard has reached out to Cordae’s team for comment.
The day before the announcement, Osaka hinted at a personal shift in an Instagram post featuring photos from beach and hiking trips. Alongside the pictures, she wrote, “I’ve come to the conclusion that what’s meant for me is meant for me. Maybe certain situations occur to train my mind for what’s to come. Maybe there’s bigger and better things on my path, and I just have to continue the journey to encounter them.”
Osaka and Cordae began dating in 2019, with the rapper confirming their relationship during an interview with HOT 97. In January 2023, Osaka revealed they were expecting their first child, and Shai was born later that year in July.
Cordae’s latest album, The Crossroads, was released in November and ranked No. 19 on Billboard’s Best Rap Albums of 2024.
