Nigerian actor and content creator Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has addressed a call for citizens to unfollow celebrities who remain silent on issues of bad governance. A protester, identified by the X handle TeniBegiloju, urged Nigerians to unfollow celebrities who are not speaking out against the current hardships in the country, excluding Mr Macaroni from this criticism.

In response, Mr Macaroni emphasized that he does not support such actions, stating that celebrities are citizens like everyone else and should not be compelled to make sacrifices that others are unwilling to make. He highlighted that when citizens genuinely desire change, they will lead the movement themselves without waiting for any celebrity.

Mr Macaroni further noted that not all celebrities choose to speak on social issues, and it is unfair to pressure them into advocacy simply because their profession has made them famous. He also pointed out that even when celebrities do speak out, they often face attacks, making it unreasonable to force individuals into roles they may not be prepared for.

This discourse underscores the ongoing debate about the role of public figures in societal activism and the expectations placed upon them by the public.
