Manchester United are exploring a move to sign Dutch and Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.
The 23-year-old, born to a Nigerian mother, enjoyed a good debut season with the Italian side, helping the team qualify for the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
The English side are looking to recruit a new forward following the departure of Anthony Martial.
According to reports, United faces stiff competition from Italian side AC Milan, as they are willing to pay his release clause of €40 million (£33.7m) and have agreed personal terms with the striker.
Zirkzee was forced to cut short his holiday in Florida this month after receiving a last-minute call-up by the Netherlands for their Euro 2024 campaign.
He was on the bench for Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Poland in their Group D opener on Sunday.
When asked about his future in an interview with Corriere Di Bologna last month, Zirkzee said: ‘At the moment my head is only in Bologna.
“I would choose the best for the club. I will only do what makes sense in my heart.”
Zirkzee scored 11 goals in in 34 Serie A games last season
