Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has addressed accusations from February 2024 alleging that she stole gold worth ₦90,000 from the market. In an interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, Anjorin firmly denied the claims, asserting her integrity and professionalism as a jewelry and fabric vendor.
She remarked, “We’re talking about ₦91,000 worth of gold when a gram was valued at ₦150,000. A gram of gold is smaller than a grain of rice—how could anyone attempt to steal something so insignificant?” Anjorin expressed her frustration, calling the accusation “ridiculous” and emphasizing her commitment to her profession.
“I am a certified jewelry seller, dealing in gold and diamonds, and also a fabric merchant. It is absurd to think I would steal a tiny amount of gold from Eko Idumota. I am not a thief; I am too disciplined and straightforward to engage in theft,” she stated.
The controversy began on February 5, 2024, when a viral video appeared showing her in a shop, with accusations of shoplifting. Anjorin was seen attempting to avoid being recorded, and although a crowd supported her claim of innocence, she later accused someone named “Shekpeteri” of framing her on social media.
