Veteran actress Kate Henshaw has expressed strong concerns over Nigeria’s pedestrian laws, criticizing the lack of respect for pedestrians in the country compared to other nations. During an interview with News Central TV, Henshaw emphasized the importance of understanding pedestrian etiquette and how orderliness is often neglected in Nigeria.

She stated, “The Nigerian highway code claims pedestrians have the right of way at zebra crossings once they step on it, but this is a complete fallacy. Pedestrians here have no rights and are even challenged to step on the faded zebra stripes.”

Recalling her experiences abroad, Henshaw highlighted how traffic management and pedestrian safety are prioritized in developed countries, contrasting it with the chaos in Nigeria. She also shared a personal experience from Canada, where traffic flowed smoothly despite a malfunctioning traffic light, stressing how orderliness was maintained without any intervention.
