Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has opened up about her last moments with late legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu, who tragically passed away in July 2024. Onwenu collapsed during the 80th birthday celebration of Emzor Pharmaceuticals CEO, Stella Okolie, and was later pronounced dead.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude, Silva revealed that she was seated with Onwenu at the event and shared a dance with her during her performance of "One Love." Shortly after returning to their seats, Onwenu collapsed. Silva explained that despite immediate medical intervention and CPR, the singer remained unconscious for nearly two hours before passing away at the hospital.
Silva reflected on the heartbreaking incident, saying, “We tried to revive her. Doctors in the house came to assist, but sadly, she passed away after about an hour and a half at the hospital." Onwenu was laid to rest on August 30 at Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi.
