After two years of marriage, American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from her husband, Ben Affleck.
The Hollywood stars tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022. TMZ reports that Lopez filed a petition for divorce without her lawyers in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday.
In the legal documents, the 55-year-old actress listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024 and did not mention any prenuptial agreement.
Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 while filming Gigli, in which they portrayed criminals stuck on a job together. Their off-screen friendship gradually blossomed into a romance that attracted significant media attention, with tabloids dubbing them “Bennifer.”
By November 2002, they were engaged, but their relationship soon cooled. They postponed their planned wedding, set for September 2003, and eventually split four months later.
Both moved on with their lives: Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in 2004, and Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005
