Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is set to make his La Liga debut for Sevilla against Villarreal after being officially registered for the 2024/25 season.
Iheanacho, 27, joined Sevilla earlier this month on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City. However, he missed Sevilla’s opening match of the season against Las Palmas because the club had not registered him due to financial constraints imposed by La Liga.
Despite limited participation in pre-season matches, including a 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, Iheanacho was eager to make his competitive debut. Sevilla had hoped to sell defender Loic Bade for €20 million to help clear space within their salary cap, but the transfer fell through when Bade rejected a move to Stuttgart, complicating Iheanacho’s situation.
Fortunately, Spanish journalist Gonzalo Tortosa confirmed that Sevilla has now successfully registered Iheanacho, making him available for selection in their match against Villarreal at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday.
