Nollywood star Jemima Osunde has dropped a shocking bombshell, accusing a movie production in Ibadan of ruining her health with contaminated food.

In an explosive revelation on X, the actress revealed she has been battling Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a bacterial infection she claims she contracted from set food during a project she now deeply regrets taking.

“I’ve never regretted anything the way I regret taking that job and going with them to Ibadan to shoot under their care,” she wrote. “I got H. pylori from set food and the aftermath GERD has left me fighting for my life the last three years.”

H. pylori is known to attack the stomach lining, and if untreated, can lead to severe health conditions like peptic ulcers or even stomach cancer. For Osunde, the infection spiraled into gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), leaving her health in a fragile state.

While she is a physiotherapist and a 2019 graduate of the University of Lagos medical school, even her medical background couldn’t save her from what she described as “three years of constant struggle,” with the past month being especially grueling.

Osunde, who gained fame in 2015 for her role as Leila in Shuga, has since become a household name in Nollywood. However, this shocking health ordeal sheds light on the grim realities behind the glitz and glamour of the industry.

Could negligence on movie sets be putting actors’ health at risk? Jemima’s revelation is bound to ignite heated conversations about safety and accountability in Nollywood productions.
