Anthony Joshua has declared his commitment to facing Tyson Fury in 2025, stating that the much-anticipated battle between the two British boxing stars “has to happen this year.”
The fight has been a topic of discussion for years but has yet to become a reality. Both fighters are coming off recent losses—Joshua was stopped by Daniel Dubois in September, while Fury was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk in December.
Speaking at the Ring Magazine Awards in London, the 35-year-old Joshua expressed his determination to make the long-awaited clash happen.
“It’s a fight I want to see because I am a fan of boxing. When I am in the gym, everyone is asking me [about this fight]. I ain’t got many years ahead of me. I want to leave the game with a bang and make an impact,” Joshua said. “Everyone is asking me the same question. It’s up to me to deliver, that’s why I’m saying it has to happen this year. I think we can make this fight happen.”
Despite his strong desire, Joshua revealed that formal talks with Fury’s camp have not yet started. However, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, has hinted at the possibility of hosting the fight at Wembley Stadium.
When asked by Sky Sports about a potential date at Wembley, Hearn said: “Yes. We’re looking to get back in the ring in May or June. If it ended up being July, it doesn’t really matter.”
Although neither fighter currently holds a world title, the clash remains one of the most anticipated matchups in heavyweight boxing. Fans are eager for the fight, and Joshua is pushing to make it happen this year, promising an electrifying showdown that could become a landmark moment in boxing history.
