Gospel singer Dare Melody recently opened up at a wake service for his late wife, Adedoyin, about the challenges she faced from his family. Speaking candidly, Dare recounted how Adedoyin supported him through difficult times, including financial struggles, even when there was barely enough to eat.
Dare shared a touching story of a New Year's celebration when they could only afford biscuits for their meal. Despite these hardships, he felt God’s support, leading to the release of his song “Goodness and Mercy” in 2010, which revived his career and enabled him to begin building a home for his family.
He said, “My family frustrated Adedoyin; I’ll hold her and say, ‘Adedoyin, I’m the one you married, and whenever you see me, put your mind at rest.’”
“When people celebrated the New Year, I ate biscuits with her and our one-year-old daughter. I told the Lord, ‘If truly you’re the one who called me, let people know you did.’ God told me I’d release a record in 2010, which became ‘Goodness and Mercy’. That record revived my career, and people started to recognise me. God opened the way for me, and I began building a house. A friend called me and said, ‘This woman stood by you; let’s build a house for her,’ and I said, ‘Everything I have is for her.’”
Dare’s brother also spoke at the service, describing a specific incident at their mother’s 50th birthday in Ibadan, where family members allegedly treated Adedoyin poorly. "If I were in her shoes, I would have left the family," he admitted, expressing admiration for her resilience and patience.
The heartfelt revelations painted a picture of Adedoyin’s enduring strength and dedication, leaving a lasting impression on those gathered to honor her memory.
