Speed Darlington is back in the headlines, and not for his usual wild antics. This time, Akpi claims he narrowly escaped a gunshot attack in Lagos.
In a video shared on Instagram, Speed Darlington—Akpi to his fans—showed the back of his SUV riddled with what he says are bullet holes. His driver clutched empty shells, allegedly fired at the vehicle. According to the 35-year-old, the incident went down as he was leaving a club in Victoria Island.
“I was told they shot at us. I heard gunshots,” he recounted, visibly rattled. “I didn’t even know it was us at first. I just came out of the club, and the next thing I heard was gunfire. They were local men, but it was still gunfire. They’re already sending killers after me. It’s crazy!”
Darlington, never one to shy away from drama, hinted that the attack was linked to his ongoing feud with Burna Boy.
For months, Speed Darlington has been on a collision course with the Afrofusion superstar. From throwing jabs about Burna’s Grammy win to making bold accusations about his relationship with Diddy, Darlington has kept the fire burning.
Most recently, he questioned how Burna’s Twice As Tall album secured the Grammy, insinuating that there were questionable dealings between Burna and Diddy.
But Darlington’s loud mouth might have cost him his freedom. He was arrested last November on cyberstalking charges, allegedly filed by Burna Boy’s camp. After two months in custody, he was released on January 21, but it seems the drama is far from over.
As if things couldn’t get messier, Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, publicly cut ties with him on Sunday.
“I and my law firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr. Darlington Achakpo PKA Speed Darlington/ Akpi,” the lawyer announced in a now-deleted post.
With no legal backing and his feud with Burna escalating, Speed Darlington is navigating murky waters.
