Dr. Abel Damina, has stepped into the heated debate surrounding tithing, which was recently reignited by Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the leader of Salvation Ministries.
In a viral video that has sparked intense discussion among Christians, Pastor Ibiyeomie claimed from the pulpit that the real reason for Adam's downfall in the Garden of Eden wasn't eating the forbidden fruit, but rather touching the "tithe" that God had warned him not to. This new interpretation has surprised many, as most believers have long been taught that Adam's sin was disobeying God by eating the fruit.
Pastor Ibiyeomie’s statement has caused a stir on social media, with many people in the Christian community strongly disagreeing and arguing that his claim is false.
In the midst of this controversy, Dr. Abel Damina, who has been openly critical of teachings focused on tithing, responded during one of his recent sermons.
He revealed that he and his wife were present at the conference where Ibiyeomie made this bold statement.
Damina recalled being shocked as he sat among the audience, finding it hard to believe what he was hearing. He did not just express his surprise; he firmly rejected Ibiyeomie’s claim, while querying if "mammon had eaten him up".
Damina explained that Adam’s downfall was due to sin, not because of tithing. He stressed that it was sin that separated humanity from God, and that Jesus Christ came to restore that broken relationship, offering forgiveness and redemption.
