Pep Guardiola remains confident in Manchester City's prospects this season, despite a challenging run of five consecutive defeats. Speaking ahead of their Champions League clash with Feyenoord on Tuesday, Guardiola expressed belief in his team’s potential.

“I have the feeling that this season we will do very good things,” Guardiola said during a pre-match press conference. “I don’t give up, and I have the feeling we will be there.”

Manchester City, currently eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, are struggling across competitions. They sit 10th in their Champions League group and have been knocked out of the League Cup. A trip to Anfield this weekend adds to the pressure. However, Guardiola insists on staying focused, stating, “What I want is a commitment.”

Despite their struggles, Guardiola remains loyal to his coaching approach, which has previously secured four straight Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy in 2023. He emphasized that the immediate priority is winning games through sheer determination. “Right now, the most important thing is not tactics, it is to win a game on desire,” he said.

Injuries have compounded City’s troubles, with key players like Kevin De Bruyne sidelined for weeks. The Belgian playmaker recently returned to action, making three substitute appearances this month. Reflecting on the team’s difficulties, De Bruyne acknowledged the frustrations of watching from the sidelines.

“I can help the team, but you can only do so much from the sidelines,” De Bruyne said. He also highlighted the chaotic injury situation within the squad, adding, “There were people who shouldn’t be playing but did anyway with injuries.”

De Bruyne, now 33, remains optimistic about the team’s ability to bounce back. “The squad is determined to return to winning ways as soon as possible,” he noted.

City faces a crucial period, and Guardiola believes they will overcome these challenges. “This too shall pass,” he said. “Life is like that. When you think it’s perfect, you are wrong. It’s going to rain tomorrow. So, that’s life.”
