Grammys: Rema, Asake, and Lojay secure first-ever nominations

Afrobeats singers, Rema, Asake, and Lojay have each earned their first-ever Grammy nominations.

The 67th Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 2025, will see strong representation from Nigeria. Rema’s  album "Heis" is up for Best Global Music Album, competing with international releases like Alkebulan II by Matt B and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Paisajes by Ciro Hurtado, Historias De Un Flamenco by Antonio Rey, and Born In The Wild by Tems.

Asake and Lojay tackle for the Best Africsn Music Performance category with "MMS" featuring Wizkid and "Sensational"  which had Davido and Chris Brown as the lead artiste. Alongside these stars include Yemi Alade, who is nominated for Tomorrow, and Burna Boy with his track Higher. The category also includes Love Me Jeje by Tems, thus making it her second nomination in the categories.

These nominations mark a major achievement for Rema, Asake, and Lojay, signaling a big step in both their careers and the global recognition of Nigerian music. With Nigerian artists making strong appearances in key categories, it shows the incredible talent and influence of African music worldwide.
