Nigerian reggae gospel artist Buchi Atuonwu recently shared his reasons for leaving a cult group during an interview on Black Flame. He explained that his decision was influenced by a profound spiritual awakening upon embracing Christianity. Buchi stated that after becoming born again, he gained a deeper understanding of the cult’s true nature, realizing it wasn’t merely a physical association but had significant spiritual implications.

He recounted an incident during a late-night performance where he observed individuals carrying coffins and red lamps. Amidst this, he heard a voice telling him, “You don’t belong here.” Initially ignoring it, the voice repeated, marking the beginning of challenges such as conflicts with other cults and law enforcement.

Prior to his conversion, Buchi had been involved in various vices, including drug abuse and cult activities. In a separate interview, he revealed a near-death experience where he was lined up for execution. In that critical moment, he prayed, “If you save me, I will serve you,” leading to his miraculous survival and subsequent dedication to serving God.

Buchi’s transformative journey from a cult member to a gospel artist underscores the profound impact of his faith on his life and music career.
