Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new manager of Championship side Coventry City, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The club confirmed the news on Thursday after sacking former manager Mark Robins on November 7.

Coventry City announced the appointment on X, stating, "A new chapter in Coventry. Welcome, Frank."

The former Chelsea star faces a tough task, as Coventry currently sits 17th in the league table, 10 points away from the playoff spots. Lampard brings experience from managing Chelsea, Derby County, and Everton. His last role was as interim manager at Chelsea in 2023.

Mark Robins, who was dismissed after losing seven of the team’s 14 league games this season, had an impressive legacy. He guided Coventry from League Two to the Championship during his tenure and took the team to the 2023 playoff final, where they narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League after a penalty shootout loss to Luton Town.
