In a bold move amid the #EndBadGovernment protests starting August 1, 2024, actress Iyabo Ojo has called out President Tinubu over the use of tear gas against demonstrators. Reports indicate that clashes erupted between police and protesters in several states, including Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Borno, with authorities using tear gas to disperse crowds.

Despite having secured approval to protest at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, protesters in Abuja faced tear gas at Eagles Square, while those at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos were similarly targeted. Outraged by the crackdown, Ojo took to Instagram, condemning the excessive force and demanding that President Tinubu instruct the police to respect the right to a peaceful protest. “Why are they throwing teargas?” she questioned in a series of posts, urging Tinubu to step in and halt the violent suppression of the demonstrators.
