Renowned Nigerian disc jockey, Oluwaforijimi Amu, popularly known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, has opened up about his significant health challenges, including the loss of his sight in 2020 and a subsequent diagnosis of chronic kidney disease.
In a recent interview on Channels TV’s ‘Rubbin Minds’ with Ebuka, DJ Jimmy Jatt shared that his health issues began in 2020 when he lost his vision, necessitating surgery to restore it. Following this, he relocated to the United States, where he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and underwent dialysis. Eventually, he returned to Nigeria for a successful kidney transplant.
The DJ emphasized that lifestyle choices are not always the root cause of kidney issues, noting that he has never smoked and had long ceased consuming alcohol. He clarified that his kidney problems were attributed to diabetes.
Despite these health challenges, DJ Jimmy Jatt continued to perform in the U.S. and Europe during his recovery and returned to Nigeria in December 2024.
