Nigerian singer Davido has revealed that the title of his upcoming fifth studio album, ‘5ive’, signifies its position as his fifth LP. In a Twitch stream hosted by alternative music artist Cruel Santino, Davido explained that after releasing his ‘Time Trilogy’—which includes ‘A Good Time’, ‘A Better Time’, and the record-breaking ‘Timeless’—he wanted a straightforward title for his next project. He stated, “It’s not really deep… It was just like ‘it’s your fifth album, let’s call it 5ive.’”
Davido also hinted that while the title doesn’t carry significant undertones, exploring the number five might reveal deeper connotations.
Ahead of the album’s release, Davido has dropped singles like ‘Awuke’ featuring Jamaican Dancehall artist YG Marley, and ‘Funds’ featuring Chike and OdumoduBlvck. He describes ‘5ive’ as a project “straight from the heart,” reflecting his personal journey, truth, and growth.
‘5ive’ is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025. Fans can anticipate collaborations with artists like Omah Lay and possibly Adekunle Gold, who has teased a guest appearance.
The album follows the success of ‘Timeless’ and marks a new chapter in Davido’s musical evolution.
