Nigerian music superstar Davido has revised his stance on the Osun State Commissioner of Police after initially criticizing the security situation in the state. The award-winning artist had earlier expressed outrage over reports of violence and alleged killings in Osun, calling out the police for not doing enough to maintain law and order.

Davido’s Initial Criticism

Davido, who has deep ties to Osun State—being the son of business mogul Adedeji Adeleke and a relative of Governor Ademola Adeleke—took to social media to voice his concerns. He accused the police of failing to protect citizens, particularly in the lead-up to the state’s local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025. His remarks stirred widespread reactions, with many residents sharing their own experiences of insecurity.

His Change of Heart

However, in a surprising turn of events, Davido later issued a statement retracting his earlier criticism. He acknowledged that after further discussions and assessments, he realized the Osun State Police Commissioner had been making significant efforts to restore peace and order. He commended the commissioner and the security forces for their work, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the government, security agencies, and the people to maintain stability.

Call for Continued Peace Efforts

Despite his commendation, Davido urged the authorities to remain proactive in ensuring that the upcoming local government elections are conducted peacefully and without violence. His revised stance highlights the need for thorough engagement before making public accusations, as well as the responsibility of influential figures to foster dialogue rather than division.

This incident once again underscores Davido’s active involvement in Osun State affairs, proving that beyond his music career, he remains deeply invested in the political and social well-being of his home state.
