Media personality Daddy Freeze has weighed in on the news of Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, donating a whopping N105 million to Christ Embassy, the church he attended during his upbringing.
According to reports, Rema visited Christ Embassy on September 1, where he pledged N40 million towards church infrastructure, N20 million to the Rhapsody of Realities, N25 million for the infrastructure of the teen’s church, and an additional N20 million to support widows in the congregation.
While announcing his donation to the widows, Rema shared a touching story: “I was eight years old when I lost my dad. We felt very lost and abandoned. All that we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone. I remember at the time, the church opened a shop for my mum, and that was what she managed to take care of us, feed us. Just to add to that, if there is any widow in church today, I am pledging N20 million to any widow in church today.”
In response to Rema’s generosity, the often-controversial media personality Daddy Freeze clarified that Rema wasn't just giving to the church but was giving back to a community that once supported him. Daddy Freeze highlighted that when Rema’s family faced hardship after losing his father, Christ Embassy financially supported them by helping his mother start a business, which sustained them through tough times.
Daddy Freeze explained, “No, Rema did not GIVE to the Church; he gave BACK to the Church. When his family was going through a rough patch, the church was there for them financially. He is now returning the favor. There is a huge difference. Unlike those who simply sow seeds in the church, Rema is sharing his ‘harvest’ with those who originally invested in him. As far as I’m concerned, he should even give them more. God bless the pastor that sowed into his family.”
