Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi recently emphasized the pivotal role women play in the entertainment industry, declaring that they often hold significant influence in a space where they’ve made considerable strides toward equality.
During a discussion on TVC’s Your View, Bovi noted that, despite ongoing battles for equal opportunities, women have already established a dominant presence in the industry. He stated, “Women need to realize that in areas where they fight for equality, they may have already conquered, but they often don’t see it.”
Bovi highlighted the achievements of women over the past decade, referencing influential figures like Funke Akindele and Mo Abudu, who are behind the biggest box office hits, as well as directors like Kemi Adetiba and producers such as Bolanle Austin-Peters. He pointed out that major events in the industry, like the largest film festival, are led by women, including Chioma Ode.
In his remarks, Bovi encouraged young women in the industry to recognize their power, saying, “When I see young girls complaining about male producers demanding favors, I think, ‘Yes, it happens, but who are you talking to? You own the industry.’” His insights sparked a conversation about the significant contributions of women and their ongoing influence in shaping the entertainment landscape.
