Nigerian singer Chike has found himself in the spotlight again after reluctantly giving a fan ₦100,000 following six days of relentless begging on Twitter. The fan, claiming the money was essential for a laptop needed for a project, repeatedly tagged the singer, hoping for a response. Finally, on August 19, 2024, Chike caved in, replying with “Send your bank account,” and promptly transferring the money after receiving the details. The grateful fan later posted the receipt and thanked Chike, praising him for his generosity.

However, this gesture is overshadowed by Chike’s recent scandal involving another Twitter user, who accused him of gaining fame through the late singer Mohbad. In an attempt to silence the critic, Chike dramatically sent the troll ₦1 million, sarcastically dubbing him “Hunger Boy” and suggesting the money might cure his poor manners.

Chike’s public acts of financial generosity have sparked debate, with some questioning whether his actions stem from genuine kindness or a need to maintain a positive public image after facing criticism. Is Chike truly the benevolent star he portrays, or are these grand gestures just damage control in the face of mounting controversy?
