Chelsea has decided to end their pursuit of Atletico Madrid's 20-year-old striker Samu Omorodion following the rejection of two bids, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Spanish Under-21 international, who is of Nigerian descent, recently returned to Atletico Madrid after a successful loan stint at Alaves in the 2023/24 season, where he netted eight goals and provided one assist in 34 La Liga appearances.

Omorodion's impressive form caught the eye of Chelsea, known for their willingness to spend significant sums on promising talents since Todd Boehly's takeover. Last month, reports indicated that Chelsea made an initial offer of approximately €30m (£25.3m), potentially rising to €40m (£33.7m) with add-ons, but Atletico swiftly turned it down.

With Omorodion's contract at Atletico running for another four years, the Spanish club reportedly demanded around £70m for the striker, who has yet to debut for Diego Simeone's first team. Consequently, Spanish outlet Marca reports that Chelsea has now withdrawn from the race to sign the 2004-born forward, having grown frustrated with Atletico's repeated rejections of their reasonable offers.
