Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, shared his excitement after making his Champions League debut during his team’s 4-0 win against Feyenoord on Thursday.

In a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on X, Boniface reminisced about his humble beginnings as a young footballer, when he used to pay N30 to watch Champions League matches. Now, he’s living his dream by playing on Europe’s biggest stage.

“From paying 30 naira to watch the Champions League… to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment,” he said.

Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union SG in 2023 in a deal valued at over €21.7 million. Leverkusen will host Wolfsburg on Sunday as they look to defend their Bundesliga title, having ended Bayern Munich’s 11-year reign last season.
