Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo has shared why he allowed Aliyah, his 18-year-old daughter, to pierce her navel.
Speaking with VJ Adams, Ninalowo said Aliyah first asked for a tongue piercing, but he refused and advised her to think of other options. She later suggested a navel piercing, which he approved because it can be removed easily.
The actor explained that agreeing to her request was a way to strengthen their bond. He even drove her to the appointment and paid for it.
“She woke me up one day and said she wanted a tongue ring. I thought about it and said, ‘Aliyah, I wouldn’t want to kiss a girl with a tongue ring. Think of something else,’” he said.
“She later said she wanted a belly button ring, and I agreed because it can be taken out anytime. I took her there myself. It was my way of staying connected to her.”
Ninalowo and his wife, Bunmi, ended their marriage last year due to irreconcilable differences. They have two children, Aliyah and Morakinyo.
