Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in development.

The announcement comes just weeks after Denzel Washington casually revealed his involvement, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated sequels in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Marvel has not revealed many details, Washington dropped a hint during an interview with Today Show Australia, saying, “Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.” This revelation suggests that Coogler, the visionary director behind the first two Black Panther films, has been quietly working on the script for some time.

The sequel is expected to build on the legacy of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced Toussaint, T’Challa’s son, as a potential heir to the Black Panther mantle. Whether the story focuses on Toussaint’s journey, Shuri’s leadership, or Wakanda’s growing influence in the MCU, fans are eager to see how the narrative unfolds.

Adding to it is the departure of longtime Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore. Moore, a cornerstone of the Black Panther franchise, will step down after the release of Captain America: Brave New World in 2025. However, he’s not entirely leaving Wakanda behind. Moore confirmed his continued involvement with Black Panther 3 in a different capacity, sharing his excitement about shaping the future of the series.

Reflecting on his Marvel journey, Moore expressed gratitude, saying, “Nearly everything I know about producing I’ve learned from my time at Marvel Studios. I couldn’t be more excited to apply my experience and passion for film towards theatrical movies in all genres, including returning to the world of Wakanda for Black Panther 3.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and producer Louis D’Esposito praised Moore’s contributions, with Feige stating, “Nate is a fantastic executive and colleague… his influence will continue to reverberate in our storytelling.”

With Washington joining the ensemble and Coogler at the helm, Black Panther 3 promises to honor the franchise’s legacy while carving out new paths in the MCU. Fans may have to wait until late 2026 or early 2027 for its release, but with the vibrant world of Wakanda back in the spotlight, it’s clear the future is bright.
