Barcelona is reportedly planning to extend Robert Lewandowski's stay at the club, which could affect their interest in signing other top strikers, including Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyökeres.

The 36-year-old Polish forward’s contract is set to expire next summer. However, according to Sport on Sunday, Barcelona is likely to trigger a clause to keep him for another year. They are also considering extending his deal until 2027.

Lewandowski has been in excellent form, scoring 20 goals in 18 matches this season. His performance has convinced Barcelona to delay any immediate plans to buy a new striker.

The club had been linked with Haaland from Manchester City and Gyökeres from Sporting CP, but their financial struggles make these transfers difficult in the short term.

Barcelona’s decision to keep Lewandowski is seen as a temporary solution while they continue to address their financial challenges. According to Goal, “If Lewandowski maintains his current form, Barca may not need to dip into the market for another striker for at least another year.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona is focusing on their upcoming Champions League match against Brest, following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, where they lost a two-goal lead late in the game.
